Pilates & Bodywork

"The only real guide to your true age lies not in years or how you think you feel but as you actually are as infallibly indicated by the degree of natural and normal flexibility enjoyed by your spine."   Joseph Pilates (1880-1967)

As Joe pointed out above, you are only as fit as your spine. Pilates is anti-ageing because it tones and strengthens the muscles without the impact on joints. It is a balance of strength and flexibility.  Pilates focuses on postural alignment, core stability and isolating muscles to rebalance the whole body, helping cleints find better alignment and freedom of movement.

It is therefore the perfect exercise system for the 21st Century and works as an antidote to days spent hunched over a computer, driving back and forth to Perth and carrying children or heavy bags. Pilates addresses the mind and body, working from the inside out, every exercise focuses on the power house to protect the back, correct posture and help bring the body into balance, decreasing injury and pain.

Pilates can be performed in many different ways ranging from Matwork Classes to Studio Pilates,  using specifically chosen excercises designed to suit your body on highly  specialised Balanced Body studio equipment.

Matwork Group Classes:  are an enjoyable, affordable way to learn correct technique, suitable for uninjured people.  Exercises are performed on the floor using your own body weight and gravity as resistance and some small apparatus, (bands, balls foam rollers etc.).   Incorporating safe yet effective exercises,  working to rebalance and strengthen throughout the entire body, whilst supporting the joints.

Studio Pilates Lessons:   are highly personalised.  Working in the privacy of our fully-equipped boutique studio with a light cool and relaxing atmosphere is a wonderful way to explore your body, posture and movement under our guidance.   Working One2One or in semi-private lessons 1-4 students is ideal for peole  who have limited time and want the benefits of a program tailed to their specific needs and essential for rehab.  We use the best available equipment, by Balanced Body.  The sessions combine exercise on the specially designed Pilates equipment that teach you to work precisely on your alignment and mat repertoire to give a uniquely tailored workout, using specifically chosen exercises designed to suit your body's needs will give you the best result possible.

All methods are based on the Principles of Pilates, are safe for joints and ligaments and work to develop and balance the muscles that support them.
